Health Insurance Carrier Change – Important Notice:

Effective with the 2026–2027 academic year, the student health insurance plan carrier will change from Wellfleet Insurance Company to UnitedHealthcare StudentResources (UHCSR). All students enrolling in coverage for the 2026–2027 plan year will be insured through UnitedHealthcare.

Coverage for Students Enrolled During 2025–2026

Students who enrolled during the 2025–2026 academic year and selected a coverage period listed below may remain insured by Wellfleet through the end of their original coverage period:

  • Spring Annual 2026 enrollees: Coverage remains with Wellfleet through December 31, 2026
  • Summer Annual 2026 enrollees: Coverage remains with Wellfleet through April 30, 2027

These students will not transition to UnitedHealthcare until their Wellfleet coverage expires.

Questions or Concerns About Your Insurance?

  • Students whose coverage begins Fall 2026 or later should contact UnitedHealthcare StudentResources for assistance. UHCSR can be contacted at 888-799-7716.
  • Students who are still within their Wellfleet coverage period should contact Wellfleet directly for any questions regarding benefits, claims, ID cards, or provider access. Wellfleet can be contacted at 877-657-5030.

Students are encouraged to confirm their coverage dates and insurance carrier before seeking medical care to ensure they are contacting the correct provider.

Plan Highlights

The 2026-2027 American IAP Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is provided by UnitedHealthcare StudentResources. The plan is ACA-compliant and includes access to United's national network of providers. Students do not have to select a primary care physician, and referrals are not required.
