2023-2024 Academic Year

Lafayette College requires all students to have adequate health insurance. As you prepare for the 2023-2024 academic year, we ask you to carefully consider your health insurance options. As a precondition for enrollment, the College requires that you submit proof of health insurance coverage. 

Plan Highlights

The 2023-2024 Lafayette Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is underwritten by Highmark.The SHIP is serviced by University Health Plans and they can be reached at 833-251-1715 or info@univhealthplans.com.

The following changes have been made to the 2023-2024 policy

  • Increase the Maximum out of Pocket Maximum from $4,500 to $8,000
  • Inrease PCP/Specialist Copay from $25 to $30
  • Prescriptions $15 Generic then 20% all other tiers
  • Increase Deductible from $50 to $100

Waiver Process

Please take a moment now and access your Patient Portal, using your Network ID and password, select Insurance Form and complete to indicate your intention to enroll in the Student Health Plan or provide proof of a domestic health insurance policy. Enter your policy information, and scan the front and back of your insurance card. Students must be enrolled in a domestic health insurance policy that provides adequate coverage in the Easton area. Pennsylvania Medicaid is the only exception to a domestic policy. Out of State Medicaid IS NOT acceptable coverage. International Students must purchase a domestic policy or choose SHIP. Students will be enrolled and billed for the Lafayette SHIP unless they submit proof of insurance on the patient portal. The deadline for submitting insurance information to the College is July 15th.

Qualifying Event Enrollment Process

Students who waived the SHIP may qualify for special enrollment rights if they incur an involuntary loss of other coverage. To request an enrollment form and premium quote, contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1715 or info@univhealthplans.com.

To enroll, you must submit an enrollment form, letter from your prior insurance company documenting your loss of coverage and payment within 30 days of the qualifying event. If all three items are received by the deadline coverage will be effective as of the first day without coverage under your prior plan.
