STUDENT ACCIDENT & SICKNESS INSURANCE PROGRAM
2010-2011
Hi Everyone,
USU has partnered with a new health insurance carrier for the 2010/2011 Academic Year. The USU-sponsored Student Accident and Sickness Plan will be managed by University Health Plans, Inc. in partnership with The Maksin Group. The new plan is underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
The following health plan enhancements are being introduced for the 2010/2011 Plan Year:
- Benefit maximum for prescriptions increased from $500 to $750.
A brief description of the coverage can be found by visiting www.universityhealthplans.com, and selecting the USU link.
If you do not have private health insurance that will cover you throughout the 2010/2011 Academic Year, please notify us (GEO) no later than September 1, 2010, and you will be eligible to enroll in the USU-sponsored Student Accident and Sickness Plan. After September 1, 2010, you will not be eligible to enroll until the beginning of the following academic year unless due to a qualifying event such as loss of coverage under your private health insurance plan.
The insurance premium for the USU-sponsored Student Accident and Sickness Plan will be paid by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation Research and Education Endowment Fund. The policy is effective August 1, 2010 through July 31, 2011, and will provide coverage for you while attending USU. Coverage is funded for the student only and does not include funding for coverage of eligible dependents. PLEASE NOTE: If you graduate or leave the University, your coverage will cease at the end of the quarter in which you leave USU.
We encourage you to read the information provided. If you have questions regarding the USU-sponsored Student Accident and Sickness Plan, please contact University Health Plans Inc. at 1.800.437.6448, by email at info@univhealthplans.com or visit our website at www.universityhealthplans.com.
