In order to assure universal insurance coverage, all new and newly eligible annual 2015-2016 Trinity College undergraduate students will be have access to the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). The policy, which is underwritten by Aetna Student Health and managed by University Health Plans, Inc., will have a coverage period of August 15, 2015, through July 31, 2016. The premium for this coverage period will be $2737. NEW Spring students will have a coverage period of January 1, 2016 through July 31, 2016. The premium for this coverage period will be $1,656.
Students who already possess comparable health insurance coverage can waive out of the Trinity College Student Health Insurance Plan by completing a waiver form on this website before the deadline of February 3, 2016. To limit your out of pocket costs, please make sure you have routine coverage in the Hartford area. Be advised if your coverage originates outside of Connecticut, i.e. HMO plans, state Medicaid plans, and international plans not based in the United States, you may want to consider enrolling in the SHIP as the Trinity College Health Center (TCHC) and local providers around our campus may not be paid in full for services rendered, which may result in out-of-pocket charges/expense for you.
Students who are not waiving the insurance plan are asked to confirm their enrollment in the plan by completing the enrollment form on this website before the deadline of February 3, 2016. Confirming your enrollment by the February 3, 2016, deadline helps to get your information into the insurance company's system closer to the effective date of the plan. Until your enrollment is processed by Aetna, you will not be able to use your insurance at a pharmacy and will have trouble accessing your benefits at a doctor’s office or in a hospital.
IDP and Graduate Students may purchase the annual 2015-2016 coverage at a rate of $4,935. NEW Spring IDP and Graduate Students may purchase Spring coverage effective January 1, 2016 through July 31, 2016 at a rate of $2,986.
