PLEASE NOTE: Important changes have been made to the University of Delaware Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. These changes are detailed below.

Dear University of Delaware Student,

The University of Delaware Office of Graduate and Professional Education in collaboration with the Office of Risk Management initiated the expansion of health insurance benefits for all of our UD students beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year. This new enhanced health insurance policy is particularly significant for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are independent of their parents. The new benefit changes/enhancements are in full compliance with the PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) that was just recently approved by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Although there is a modest increase in premiums, the out-of-pocket costs for preventative care and well screenings will decrease as these are covered in the new plan. Graduate students on contract and postdoctoral fellows will continue to receive a subsidy toward their premium at the same percentage rate as prior years. All students will continue to have the same access to Student Health Services and continue to pay the health center fee. Dependents can use their health insurance coverage at the Nurse Managed Health Center (NMHC) at 119 McDowell Hall or via an off-campus provider.

Please refer to your brochure for Student Accident and Sickness Plan for eligibility, enrollment instructions, and deadline dates.
