STUDENT ACCIDENT & SICKNESS INSURANCE PROGRAM
2010-2011 Academic Year
Effective September 1, 1989, the Massachusetts Law C.15A, s. 18 requires that every full-time and part-time student enrolled in an institution of higher learning in Massachusetts participate in a Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) or in a health benefit plan with comparable coverage. A part-time student is defined as a student participating in at least 75% of the full-time curriculum or at least 9 credits.
All undergraduate students enrolled in at least 9 credits are automatically billed the health insurance annual premium of $891.00. Students enrolled in at least 9 credits for the Spring 2011 semester only, will be billed $507.00. Please read the brochure provided for specific information regarding coverage.
If a student is covered by a qualified health insurance program, the student MUST waive the coverage offered by Curry College. You may complete the form online here www.universityhealthplans.com. To waive the insurance, proof of alternate health coverage is required.
The deadline to waive the insurance for STUDENTS is August 30, 2010.
If a waiver form is not submitted by the above dates the student will automatically be enrolled in the Nationwide Life Insurance Company’s Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan. No waivers will be accepted after the deadline. (***February 1, 2011 is the deadline for students enrolled in the Spring 2011 semester only.)
