Plan Highlights
FIU Global is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Wellfleet Student and University Health Plans (UHP) to provide health insurance coverage for our students. The FIU Global Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) offers substantial benefits for covered medical expenses at a reasonable cost. We encourage you to review the coverage by selecting the "Benefit Information” tab in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. Below are some of the highlights of the insurance plan.
- Access to Cigna’s nationwide PPO provider network
- Unlimited maximum benefit per plan year
- Prescription drug coverage
- Office Visit: $10 Copay
- Urgent Care: $10 Copay
- Emergency Room: 10% coinsurance, after deductible (waived if admitted)
- Ambulance:10% coinsurance, after deductible
- Student Health Center: Claims are paid at 100% for covered medical services when rendered at the Student Health Center

Please review the information below for your student type to understand the enrollment process, eligibility, coverage periods, cost, and additional coverage associated with your SHIP.
ENROLLED YEAR 1 STUDENTS
Eligibility
All new FIU Global students are required to enroll in the FIU Global SHIP. Therefore, students are automatically enrolled, and no action is necessary.

Dental Plan
The dental plan is included in the Wellfleet medical plan, and students can visit any dentist of their choice, as there is no specific network of dentists to choose from. The complete description of benefits can be found in the Brochure located in the "Benefit Information" tab in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. Enrollment in this plan is mandatory. All students will be automatically enrolled, and no action is necessary.
Vision Plan
The vision plan is provided by VSP Vision Care. The complete description of benefits and participating provider search can be found by clicking "Vision Insurance" in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. Enrollment in this plan is mandatory. All students will be automatically enrolled, and no action is necessary. Once you are enrolled, no ID cards or claim forms are needed when you see a VSP Network Doctor. Tell the doctor you are a VSP member when making the appointment.
PROGRESSED/MATRICULATED YEAR 2-4 STUDENTS
Eligibility
Progressed/Matriculated Year 2-4 FIU Global students are required to have health insurance, but will not be automatically enrolled in the FIU Global SHIP. To enroll, you must make payment via the Shorelight portal HERE. If you have questions about your eligibility or payment, please contact the FIU Global Student Services Director, Lukas Calafell, via email at lukas.calafell@GlobalFIU.com.

Dental Plan

Vision Plan
Only students who enroll in an annual insurance product will be enrolled in the vision plan provided by VSP Vision Care. If you select a semester-only product, you will not receive vision benefits and will be responsible for any vision services you may receive, including vision exams, glasses/frames, contact lenses, etc. For students who select an annual product, you will receive vision benefits and can review the complete description of benefits by clicking Vision Insurance in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of this page. For students enrolled in the vision plan, no ID cards or claim forms are needed when you see a VSP Network Doctor. Inform the doctor that you are a VSP member when scheduling the appointment.
