The University of Bridgeport requires all full-time undergraduate students, international students, physician assistant students, and all students living in campus housing to be covered by a health insurance plan. All students required to have insurance are automatically enrolled in and billed for the University of Bridgeport Student Health Insurance Plan.
If you are currently insured, you may waive enrollment. However, please note the following:
Part-time undergraduate students taking 7 or more credits and graduate students taking 6 or more credits and not living on campus are eligible to voluntarily enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan. Note, Distance Learning Students taking online-only classes are not eligible for the SHIP. The enrollment form will be available by the end of June.
University Health Plans (UHP) will manage the enrollment and waiver process and is available to answer any questions about the SHIP. UHP Can be reached at 800-437-6448 or info@univhealthplans.com.
If you are enrolling in the insurance, then you must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the effective date of the plan
