The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts

2019-2020 Academic Year

All students are required to have Health Insurance. The school will be offering Health Insurance in response to your requests and to ensure the health and safety of our student body when they take ill or get hurt. This coverage is low-cost, at the price of $2,700 with effective dates: 8/15/19-8/14/20. The spring premium, for new incoming spring students, is $1,675 with effective dates: 1/1/20-8/14/20.

We advise you to review the policy and also review any existing health coverage you are counting on while you are here as a student. Some questions you should research are:

  • Will my plan cover me while I reside out-of-state at college?
  • What forms or documentation does my company require to prove I am a student?
  • Does my existing health plan have doctors and providers in New York City? Depending on the answers, you may want to consider having our Student Health Insurance coverage in addition to your existing plan.

We want you to take action now to ensure that if you take ill or are hurt that you will be able to access affordable health care here in NYC. In the past, we have had students delay treatment because they could not find a doctor that would take their insurance or they could not afford the charges levied. It is important that you plan ahead so that you won’t have to find these things out when the need arises.

If you are already covered by a health insurance plan, you will need to provide proof to have the charges for health coverage on your billing reversed. However, you may want to have the Student Health Insurance in addition to another plan, particularly if your prior plan was an "in-state" program. If you decide you DO NOT want this health plan, you must mail or bring a copy of your insurance card, premium notice or policy statement to: The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, attention Student Services, 39 West 19th Street, New York, NY 10011 or you may fax it to 212-414-4568.
