Did you participate in the MassHealth Premium Assistance Program (MHPA)?
(If MassHealth did not purchase your Student Health Insurance Plan, you did not participate)
No
Yes
The MassHealth Premium Assistance Program is not available for the 2020-2021 academic year. This means MassHealth is not able to purchase the Student Insurance Plan (SHIP) for you.
UHP and MassHealth will send communication regarding the end of the program and important changes to how you access your MassHealth provided health benefits. Click HERE for copies of the communications.
Before accessing the waiver form, read the following and acknowledge the statements below:
- Your last day of coverage in the BCBS plan is August 14, 2020.
- If your MassHealth is active, you will have access to the MassHealth Network of providers when the BCBS plan ends. You can submit a waiver form with your MassHealth Benefits.
- Before waiving, verify your MassHealth benefits are active (it is possible that your MassHealth ended while you participated in the MHPA program). If you are unsure, call MassHealth customer service at 800-841-2900 and ask MH to “verify your last determination in the HIX system”.
- If MassHealth instructs you to enroll in a Connector Care Plan, do not waive until you complete the enrollment process and have your Connector Care policy information. A Connector Care plan is not MassHealth.
- After August 14, 2020 you will be assigned a MassHealth Accountable Care Organization (ACO). You have 90 days to review this assignment and make changes. You do not need to update your waiver form once the ACO is assigned, but you should ensure the assigned plan meets your healthcare needs.
- Additional information about the end of the MHPA program is available at www.universityhealthplans.com/MHPA.
- If you do not have active MassHealth or an active health insurance plan, do not waive.
I have read and acknowledge the above statements.
