If you are currently insured, you may waive enrollment. However, please note the following:

  • Not all plans provide comprehensive coverage in Connecticut such as out-of-state Medicaid plans, and certain HMOs and managed care plans. Be sure to check with your insurance company before waiving.
  • If your comparable plan will end before July 31, 2024, while you are in school, you must either enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan within 31 days of your other plan’s end date or find comparable coverage elsewhere.
  • International students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and cannot access the online waiver form. International students with a US health insurance plan comparable to the University of Bridgeport Student Health Insurance Plan and meets all visa insurance requirements should contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1128 or info@univhealthplans.com.

Part-time undergraduate students taking 7 or more credits and graduate students taking 6 or more credits and not living on campus are eligible to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan voluntarily. Note, Distance Learning Students taking online-only classes are not eligible for the SHIP. The enrollment form will be available by the end of June.

University Health Plans (UHP) will manage the enrollment and waiver process and can answer any questions about the SHIP. UHP Can be reached at 833-251-1128 or info@univhealthplans.com

If you are enrolling in the insurance, then you must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the effective date of the plan
