ENDICOTT COLLEGE
STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

2023-2024 Academic Year

All students enrolled in at least 75% of the full-time curriculum are required by Massachusetts State law to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage. To ensure compliance with Massachusetts law, domestic undergraduate students registered for 9 or more credits and all international students are automatically billed for the SHIP. Domestic graduate students are not eligible for the Student Health Insurance Plan as their programs are made up of online only or short-term courses that meet once a week or less per semester.

Student Health Insurance Policy Period and Premiums

The 2023-2024 Endicott College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. The plan is ACA compliant and includes access to Blue Cross Blue Shield's national PPO network of providers. Students do not have to select a primary care physician and referrals are not required.

Endicott College has partnered with University Health Plans to administer the plan and help with waiver, enrollment, or benefit-related questions. University Health Plans can be reached at 833-251-1725 or info@univhealthplans.com.

IMPORTANT: The plan effective dates have changed. The 2023-2024 Plan will begin coverage on 8/1/2023 and end coverage on 7/31/2024. Students enrolled on the 2022-2023 policy who will re-enroll for 2023-2034 will be pro-rated for enrollment from 8/19/2023-7/31/2024, as your current plan effective date is paid through 8/18/2023. All students enrolled on the 2023-2024 policy, regardless of effective date, will have a 7/31/2024 policy end date.

  • The prescription drug benefit will be:

Undergraduate Student Waiver Process

If you are covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan you can opt-out of the Endicott College SHIP by completing the waiver form, located in the left-hand side navigation menu. Before waiving, compare the cost, coverage, and benefits of the SHIP to your existing plan. In order to waive, your plan must meet the below insurance requirements:

  • Your plan must provide access to doctors, specialists, hospitals, labs, pharmacies and mental health/behavioral health providers in Massachusetts, specifically in the Endicott College campus area without restriction or limitation.
  • Out-of-state Medicaid and many HMO or EPO plans do not provide out-of-network coverage. If you have any out-of-state plan then please contact your provider to confirm your benefits in the Beverly, MA area. Urgent or emergency-only coverage does not meet the SHIP waiver requirements.
  • The policy must be a United States filed and approved, ACA (Affordable Care Act) compliant plan. International and travel insurance plans and short-term limited duration plans are not accepted.

The deadline to waive the Annual Student Health Insurance Plan is on September 25, 2023. For students who missed the annual deadline, a waiver appeal is available until October 13, 2023 using the waiver form link on the left hand side of the page. For NEW incoming Spring 2023 students the deadline to waive the Spring Student Health Insurance Plan is March 1, 2024.

If you do not submit a waiver form by the waiver deadline above, you will be enrolled in SHIP and responsible for the premium.

Undergraduate Student Enrollment Process

Students who would like to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan should complete the enrollment form located on the left side navigation menu of this page prior to the deadline.

IMPORTANT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION:

  • Although undergraduate students are automatically charged for the Student Health Insurance Plan, students will not be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan by the College until after Endicott add/drop deadline
  • Students should complete the enrollment form as soon as possible to avoid difficulties in accessing their health insurance benefits.
  • Paying the insurance premium charge on your student bill does not enroll you in the plan. You must still complete the enrollment form for your activation of benefits.
  • If you do not enroll online prior to August 1, 2023 your plan will not show as active on this date. All students who confirm enrollment after this date will retroactively effective as of August 1, 2023.

International Student Enrollment/Waiver Process

International students are enrolled on a mandatory basis and cannot waive the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Please note, health insurance plans marketed solely to international students are often not filed in the U.S., have limited benefits and/or coverage periods that do not comply with the Massachusetts Student Health Plan Regulations and the Endicott College waiver requirements. ISO, PSI and Student Medicover are examples of companies that do not meet the waiver requirements but market their plans to international students. The Endicott Student Health Insurance Plan meets F1/J1 visa requirements.

Qualifying Event Enrollment Process

Students who waived the SHIP may qualify for special enrollment rights if they incur an involuntary loss of other coverage. To request an enrollment form and premium quote, contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1725 or info@univhealthplans.com

To enroll, you must submit an enrollment form and a letter from your prior insurance company documenting your loss of coverage within 60 days of the qualifying event. If all items are received by the deadline coverage will be effective as of the first day without coverage under your prior plan. The prorated premium will be added to your student account.
