In accordance with Massachusetts State Law, Olin College of Engineering requires students to participate in the Qualified Student Health Insurance Plan (QSHIP) unless proof of comprehensive comparable coverage under a policy filed and approved in the US is provided. Students must either complete the On-Line Enrollment Form, to enroll in the Olin College Student Health Insurance Plan, or complete the On-Line Waiver Form to provide proof of comparable coverage.
To waive the Student Health Insurance Plan and report your own insurance:
Olin College does not allow certain students to waive off the QSHIP plan. If the student falls under one of the following categories they are ineligible for waiver and will be automatically enrolled:
The Olin College Student Health Insurance 2020-2021 policy period begins on August 15, 2020 and runs through August 14, 2021. Students who have coverage under another qualified health insurance coverage will be given the opportunity to waive coverage in the Olin College Student Health Insurance Plan. The waiver stipulates that personal coverage will be maintained during the 2020-2021 policy period, August 15, 2020 through August 14, 2021.
Students who have not waived coverage by July 17, 2020 will see the full premium for the student health insurance plan ($2,993) charged to their student account. If a waiver is received after July 17, 2020 and before August 30, 2020, the health insurance charge will be reversed.
If a waiver is not on file by the deadline, August 30, 2020, the student will remain responsible for payment of the full premium. This waiver is for the 2020-2021 policy period only. A new waiver form must be submitted at least once each academic year.
If a student's insurance is cancelled at any point during the academic year they are required to notify Student Accounts (email@example.com) within 60 days of the loss of coverage. Olin’s Blue Cross Blue Shield Student Health Insurance Plan is available. Please contact Student Accounts for applicable rates. Payment is due immediately.
To complete the Enrollment Form or Waiver Form, select appropriately from the MENU options to the left.
