Olin College of Engineering

2016-17 Policy Year

In accordance with Massachusetts State Law, Olin College of Engineering requires students to participate in the Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is provided. Students must either complete the On-Line Enrollment Form, to enroll in the Olin College Student Health Insurance Plan, or complete the On-Line Waiver Form to provide proof of comparable coverage.

Olin College does not allow the following classes of students to waive off the QSHIP plan. If the student falls under one of the following categories they are ineligible for waiver and will be automatically enrolled:

  • student with coverage from insurance carriers outside the U.S. and/or coverage by foreign National Health Services programs;
  • students with a health insurance plan that provides coverage through a closed network of providers not reasonably assessable in the area where the student attends school, for all but emergency services; or
  • students with a Health Safety Net, MassHealth Limited, or Children’s Medical Security Plan.

The Olin College policy begins on August 15, 2016 and runs through August 14, 2017. Students will be irrevocably enrolled in this plan unless a waiver is completed and received by Student Accounts prior to July 1, 2016. The waiver stipulates that personal coverage will be maintained during the 2016-17 policy year. If a waiver is not on file by July 1, the student will be billed the $1,443 insurance premium and will remain responsible for payment of said premium. The waiver must be renewed annually.

If a student's insurance is cancelled at any point during the year they are required to notify the Student Accounts Manager within 60 days of the loss of coverage. Olin’s Blue Cross Blue Shield Student Health Insurance Plan is available. Please consult the Student Accounts Manager for applicable rates. Payment is due immediately.

To complete the Enrollment Form or Waiver Form, select appropriately from the MENU options to the left. When you have completed and successfully submitted the form, you will immediately receive a notice indicating the completion of the form. Please print this notice for your records. You will also receive an email confirmation.
