INTO SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY
STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
2017-2018

Dear Student:

As an international student enrolled in an INTO Suffolk program, you are required to have health insurance for the entirety of your time at Suffolk University. Massachusetts law and Suffolk University policy require all full-time and part-time students to participate in a qualifying student health insurance program or in a health benefit plan with comparable coverage as defined in 114.6 CMR 3.05(2).

All INTO Suffolk students are automatically enrolled in the Suffolk University Student Health Insurance Plan (“SSHIP”) for the duration of their study plan. The only exceptions will be:

  • Those students whose sponsoring institutions have a signed agreement with Suffolk that complies with the University’s health insurance waiver requirements or
  • Students with a plan for which their health insurance company's primary home office is based in the United States AND the policy provides comparable coverage to the University student health insurance plan.

International students who do not fall under conditions 1 or 2 above MUST purchase the University’s student health insurance plan and therefore are not eligible for a waiver. Proof of comparable insurance must be provided to INTO Suffolk prior to arrival for students who wish to waive the SSHIP plan.

If you believe you qualify to waive insurance, email your insurance information to suffolkadmissions@intoglobal.com.

Fees and dates of coverage for INTO Suffolk students enrolled in SSHIP can be found here.
