International Student Enrollment Process

Enrollment is mandatory for all International Students. All international students are automatically enrolled in the College’s Student Health Insurance Plan, and may not waive out of it. To expedite enrollment in the Plan, students may confirm enrollment by submitting the enrollment form located in the left navigation menu of this page.

Domestic Student Enrollment/Waiver Process

Students who have an insurance plan that meet the below waiver requirements set by the College may elect to waive the Student Health Insurance Plan by completing the waiver form located in the left navigation menu of this page. Students enrolling in the Student Health Insurance Plan must confirm enrollment by submitting the online enrollment form located in left navigation menu of this page.

FAILURE TO COMPLETE the online Waiver Form by the deadline will result in your mandatory purchase of the College’s Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2020-2021 Policy Year, without the possibility of late waiver, refund or cancellation.

To waive the Student Health Insurance Plan and report your own insurance your must:

  • Be a health insurance plan that is filed and approved in the United States;
  • Be in full compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and provide minimum essential coverage as defined by the ACA including:
    • The policy must provide an unlimited policy maximum
    • The policy cannot have a pre-existing condition limitation
    • The policy must provide emergency and non-emergency local coverage in the area of the College
    • The policy must provide an unlimited maximum for mental/behavioral health care for inpatient and outpatient services
  • Not limit coverage to emergency conditions only while in the area of the College, but must provide all of the coverage described above while in the area of the College.

Please note, in the event your fall 2020 courses are remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic and you submit the waiver form with an out of area plan, it is important that you re-evaluate your health insurance needs when you return to the College. If your private insurance policy does not extend to the Annapolis,MD area for non-emergency care, you must contact University Health Plans at (800) 437-6448 or to enroll in the St. John’s College student health insurance plan. Emergency only care is not sufficient while living in the area of the school.

All students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan may enroll their eligible dependents on to their Plan. Dependent enrollment election can be made when submitting the enrollment form in the left navigation menu of this page.
