Delta Dental Plan for University of Delaware Students

Dear Students,
The University of Delaware is pleased to offer students and their dependents the option to enroll in the Delta Dental PPO dental plan. You may enroll in this plan on a VOLUNTARY basis; it is not required insurance and enrollment in the medical insurance is not required. Links to the online enrollment form, plan benefit highlights, and the link to the network of dentists can be found on the left-hand side of this page.
The carrier has changed from Highmark/United Concordia to Delta Dental. This plan utilizes the Delta Dental PPO and Premier networks. You do not need to select a primary care dentist. The provider search tool is located on the left-hand side of this page to check your dental provider. Please review the benefit information BEFORE enrolling.

There is no spring coverage period for Undergraduate and Non-Contracted Graduates. After the annual enrollment deadline, the next enrollment period will be in Fall 2026.

The Contracted Graduate and Post Doc Student Plan coverage periods and rates are only available to students who are classified as "on contract" and deemed eligible by the University of Delaware Office of Graduate Studies. All other students are eligible for the Undergraduate and Non-Contracted Student Plan.
Enrollment Information
Students who wish to enroll themselves and their dependent MUST submit the online enrollment form and pay the full premium amount online via credit card no later than midnight on the posted deadline for their selected coverage period. The enrollment deadline for annual coverage effective August 15, 2025 through August 14, 2026 is on October 15, 2025.
Eligible Contracted Graduates and Post Doc Fellows may enroll for Spring 2026 coverage effective February 1, 2026 through August 14, 2026. The deadline for Contracted Graduates and Post Doc Fellows to enroll in the Spring 2026 coverage period will be on February 28, 2026.
To enroll, please select the 'Enrollment Form' under your student type located on the left-hand side of this page. Enrollments are not accepted after the posted deadline.
Important Information
ID CARDS: Members of this plan will not receive a mailed ID card. Access to your insurance ID card is not needed to access care. Please utilize the links on the left hand side of this page for online account access and the ID card link for more information on how to utilize your plan coverage.
ENROLLEE ID: Your enrollee ID is your student ID number with UD preceeding the nine numerical digits (example. if your student ID is 701234567 then your enrollee ID is UD701234567).
DEPENDENT ELIGIBILITY: Eligible dependents are your spouse, civil union partner and children under age 26. If your child reaches age 26 during the policy year, they will be terminated at the end of the month in which they have reach age 26.
REFUNDS: There are no refunds of any kind provided after your plan becomes effective or after University Health Plans submits your enrollment to Delta Dental, which occurs first.
POST DOC FELLOWS: This plan is only available to Post Doc Fellows who have been approved by the UD Office of Graduate Studies to enroll based on your contract. If you do not have enrollment access, please contact University Health Plans to confirm eligbility.
