Insurance Requirement

Cambridge College Undergraduate Students taking 12 or more credits and Graduate Students taking 6 or more credits are automatically enrolled in and charged for the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Massachusetts requires students enrolled in at least 75% of full-time, who are not enrolled solely in short-term courses or an online program, to be covered by health insurance. Students may opt out of the SHIP by submitting a waiver form documenting proof of comparable coverage by the deadline each academic year

Plan Highlights

The Cambridge College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is insured by Wellfleet. The plan is ACA-compliant and includes access to Cigna's national network of PPO providers. Students do not have to select a primary care physician; referrals are not required. Refer to the Undergraduate and Graduate plan summaries located in the navigation menu on the left. 

Cambridge College has partnered with University Health Plans to support the plan and help with waiver, enrollment, or benefit-related questions. Waiver Process

Students covered by a US health insurance plan that is filed and approved in the US and compliant with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that also provides comprehensive health benefits near the Cambridge College Campus can request to opt-out of the SHIP by completing the waiver form in the navigation menu to the left by the deadline above. Before waiving, compare the cost, coverage, and benefits of the SHIP to your existing plan.

Online-only students are not charged for the insurance plan and are not required to waive. Students in a hybrid or remote program are charged and required to waive. 

Dependent Enrollment

Eligible students enrolled in the SHIP may enroll their dependents via the form on the left side of the page by the deadline above. Dependents include your spouse and children under age 26. Dependent coverage, if any, begins and ends with the student's coverage.

Qualifying Event Enrollment

Students who waived the SHIP or did not enroll their dependents during the initial eligibility period may qualify for special enrollment rights. To request a qualifying event enrollment form and premium quote, contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1734 or info@univhealthplans.com. You must submit all qualifying event enrollment paperwork and documentation by the deadline.
