Bentley University is pleased to announce that for the 2020-2021 Academic Year we have teamed up with Blue Cross and Blue Shield to provide health insurance coverage for our students.
Student Health Insurance Policy Period and Premium Rate:
8/1/20 - 7/31/21
All students enrolled at least 3/4 time are required by Massachusetts State law to enroll in the Student Health Insurance or be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage. To ensure compliance with Massachusetts law, undergraduates who are registered for 9 or more credit hours, graduates who are registered for 6.75 or more credit hours, and all full-time PhD students are automatically billed for the Student Health Insurance Plans. To read the details of this law, click here.
All international students and other non-US residents at Bentley are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance and do not need to take any action. International students do not have access to the online waiver form. Please contact University Health Plans at (800) 437-6448 if you are covered by an Embassy Sponsored Program or a Massachusetts-based Employer-Sponsored Insurance Plan that is filed and approved in the United States, ACA compliant and provides emergency and non-emergency care in the Bentley area.
Please note, health insurance plans marketed solely to international students are often not filed in the U.S., have limited benefits and/or coverage periods that do not comply with the Massachusetts Student Health Plan Regulations and the Bentley University waiver requirements. ISO, PSI, Student Medicover, Tokio Marine, and NYIS Insurance are examples of companies that do not meet the waiver requirements but market their plans to international students.
All domestic students enrolled at least 3/4 time must annually waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance.
Deadline to complete the Annual waiver or enrollment form:
Undergraduate Students: August 1, 2020
Graduate Students: August 31, 2020
Please note, in the event fall 2020 courses are remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic and you submit the waiver form with an out of area plan, it is important that you re-evaluate your health insurance needs when you return to Massachusetts. If your private insurance policy does not extend to Massachusetts for non-emergency care, you must contact University Health Plans at 800-437-6448 or firstname.lastname@example.org to enroll in the Bentley University student health insurance plan. Emergency only care is not sufficient while living in Massachusetts.
University Health Plans is available to manage the waiver and enrollment process and answer general questions about the insurance plan. To speak with a representative, please call (800) 437-6448 or send an email to email@example.com.
