STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

2023-2024 Academic Year

Eligibility

All students enrolled in 9 or more credits are required by Massachusetts State law to enroll in the Student Health Insurance or be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage. Therefore, all students enrolled in 9 or more credits are automatically charged the Student Health Insurance Fee. If the student is already enrolled in a comparable health insurance plan, then the student must fill out an online waiver form.

Plan Highlights

New England Law | Boston is pleased to announce that for the 2023-2024 Academic Year we have teamed up with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBS) and University Health Plans (UHP) to provide health insurance coverage for our students. Details about the Student Health Insurance Plan can be found by selecting Benefit Information in the left-hand side navigation menu on this page. UHP is available to manage the enrollment and answer general questions about the insurance plan. Insurance Cost & Coverage Periods

Students who meet the eligibility requirements for fall will be enrolled in annual coverage but charged by semester. The charge is $2,993 for Fall coverage (8/1/23 - 1/31/24) and $2,988 for Spring coverage (2/1/24 - 8/1/24).  Students MUST maintain eligibility for the plan to remain enrolled for spring coverage. Students not returning to New England Law | Boston for the spring semester will not be eligible to continue enrollment and will be removed from the plan as of February 1, 2024.

Waiver Process

All students enrolled in 9 or more credits with comparable coverage can opt-out of the of the Student Insurance Plan by completing the annual waiver form located on the left side of this page by the deadline. Before waiving, compare the cost, coverage, and benefits of the Plan to your existing plan. If you do not submit an online waiver form by the deadline above, you will automatically be enrolled in the New England Law | Boston’s Student Health Insurance Plan and responsible for the fee.

Enrollment Process

Students that would like to enroll in the Student Health Insurance should confirm enrollment by completing the enrollment form located on the left side of this page. Confirming enrollment will ensure you receive your insurance card sooner than through the automatic enrollment process. Before confirming enrollment, we encourage students to compare all other insurance options. The Massachusetts Health Connector offers information for Massachusetts residents about Commonwealth Choice (an online marketplace where you can compare and purchase insurance plans from various carriers) and Subsidized Health Plan (a low-or-no-cost insurance program for qualifying uninsured adults).
