Dear Rutgers Postdoctoral Fellows, Graduate Fellows, and Partial TA-GAs:

Rutgers University is pleased to present you with information about the Rutgers University Student Health Insurance Plan. The Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan is administered by University Health Plans and underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company.


Post-Doctoral Fellows

All full-time Post-Doctoral Fellows and eligible dependents (at the fellow’s expense) will need to complete a Health Insurance Enrollment Form. Post- Doctoral Fellows in a legacy UMDNJ position at Rutgers should submit the enrollment form to the RBHS Risk & Claims Office. Post-Doctoral Fellows in a Rutgers position should submit the completed application to their supervisor or to the person who processes forms and payroll in their department.


Graduate Fellows

Graduate Fellows who have been awarded a full fellowship from internal or external sources are eligible for single health insurance coverage. The Graduate School Dean’s Office will make final determinations as to individual eligibility. All eligible Graduate Fellows and dependents (at fellow’s expense) will need to complete an Enrollment Form to be submitted to the Graduate School Dean’s Office.


TA’s & GA’s

Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants with less than a full appointment and their dependents (at student’s expense) are eligible under this plan, as determined by the Department of Risk Management & Insurance. Eligible Rutgers Teaching Assistants/Graduate Assistants with less than a full appointment will be automatically enrolled through the Rutgers University Human Resource Office.


Optional Dental and Vision Plans

Rutgers University is pleased to offer our students and their dependents a Dental and Vision insurance plan at their cost. The plans are voluntary and are NOT required insurance and information regarding enrollment can be found at www.universityhealthplans.com.
