Important Information Regarding Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 Health Insurance Charges
  • Students will be billed the Student Health Insurance fee based on eligibility each term.
  • The fall insurance fee, $991.75 covers the fall term: August 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
  • The insurance fee for returning spring students, $1,346.45 will cover the spring term: January 1, 2027 through July 31, 2027.
  • Families and students are reminded to budget wisely. Students may have a credit/receive a refund in the fall term and owe a balance in the spring term.
  • Student graduating or separating from the university after fall term are not insured after December 31st.
  • Eligble fall students: the deadline to waive or confirm enrollment is 9/14/2026. After the final deadline, students are automatically enrolled and the charge cannot be waived.
  • New spring students: the deadline to waive or confirm enrollment is 2/4/2027. After the final deadline, students are automatically enrolled and the charge cannot be waived.
  • Waiving health insurance in the fall will waive coverage for the entire academic year.
  • ALL students must waive or confirm enrollment in the University’s health insurance coverage every academic year.
  • The insurance fee for new spring students, $1,376.45 will cover the spring term: January 1, 2027 through July 31, 2027.

Eligibility: All full-time and three-quarter time graduate and undergraduate students are required to have comprehensive health insurance coverage in the area of the University. The following students who are taking at least one class on campus are eligible and must either waive or enroll:

  • Matriculating undergraduate students enrolled in 9 or more credits
  • Matriculating graduate students enrolled in 7 or more credits (Matriculating graduate students taking 6 credits are not automatically enrolled but may contact the Bursar’s Office if interested in enrolling in SHIP).
  • Matriculating School of Law students enrolled in 9 or more credits
  • All matriculating international students regardless of credit hours will be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Part-time study, independent study, internet classes and television (TV) courses may not fulfill the eligibility requirements that the covered student actively attends classes. Students taking only on-line classes are not eligible for school insurance.

Important Notes:

  • If you submit this enrollment form you will be enrolled for fall semester coverage. If you return for spring 2027 semester as an eligible student, you will be charged for and re-enrolled for spring semester coverage. The annual coverage period is August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027.
  • In order to remain insured for both fall and spring semesters, students must be registered for both semesters and must maintain the required number of credits. Students who graduate or are not registered for spring 2027 or are not registered for enough credits for spring semester will not be charged the spring insurance premium and coverage will be terminated as of December 31, 2026. You must remain an eligible student for the spring semester to continue enrollment in the plan in the spring.
  • If you have a dependent(s) enrolled in the plan, your dependent will no longer be eligible for coverage in the spring if you are not a registered student in the spring semester.

By submitting this enrollment form you confirm your enrollment in the plan and understand your tuition bill has been charged the fall semester insurance fee, $991.75, and will be charged the returning spring insurance fee of $1,346.45 if you return as an eligible student for spring.

The deadline for confirming enrollment in the SHIP is September 14, 2026.
